On Friday I was on my first editorial fashion shoot for Elle SA. I met some great people including our photographer Steve Tanchel, the make-up artist Leslie Whitbey (who is a real-life version of Rachel Zoe), and the uber-fabulous, Saadique, who did the hair. Our model's name was Gate. She made the clothes look hectic, and she worked it with ease. We had fun jamming to the Juno soundtrack while we created a series of blue looks, ranging from Aqua to Electric. Blue is set to be a huge Summer trend over here. Everyone I've spoken to is absolutely loving it! It's great to be in a city where the weather creates a colouful atmosphere. I will have to put away all my blacks & greys into storage for the next few months. More on Gate though... she's a 24 year old Ethopian model, who grew up in Amsterdam (I love the art, architecture & vibe of that city), but moved to New York, via Paris, to model. She's married to an NYC top chef who has a chain of restaurants internationally. She'll also be walking in a number of shows for Arise Cape Town fashion week, next weekend. In short, she's fabulous!
For those of you who don't know, I am in Joburg for the next 6 months, interning at Elle magazine. I got this fabulous opportunity and decided that a few months of sun & fun could not be a bad thing. So for the next few months I'll be charting all that's pop pop popping, this side of the hemisphere!
A few pics after the jump. For all the pics, check out the November issue of ELLE South Africa. Enjoy & stay fabulous xxx
